I now have two Aussiedoodles and truly believe they must be one of the best breeds ever. “Murphy” my first boy, is a beautiful red (actually a tan) dog. PROS: I’d say he’s 95% shed free. Has an amazing personality and is so very patient with very young children and grumpy grandpas. His hair is amazingly soft. Loves to exercise but isn’t demanding (like my boarder collie). He’s a great swimmer! He wants to please (and happily gets the daily paper for us). CONS: Grooming is a must. I’ve learned to use the clippers and keep his coat manageable. OTHER: Breeders are important and I cannot recommend high enough Nancy and Steve from Doodleville (located in NC). All their pups are beautifully colored and such variety! They truly care about the pups and owners. Last Friday (Jan 30) we picked up “Lucky” our new blue merle boy and all of us are thrilled with him!
I have gotten my first Aussiedoodle from Doodlesville. His Mom was a White Standard Poodle and his Dad was a beautiful Austrailian Shepherd. Muddy was born 11/25/09. He’ll probably get to 50lbs. I agree with Marilyn that Nancy and Steve at Doodlesville are the best. They spent all the time we needed to show us the best ways to train him. Muddy is the absolutely BEST dog I’ve ever had. He loves everyone, he is easily trained-so smart it’s scary and so happy all the time. At 4 months he’s so easy to care for- a bath once a week and while watching tv I brush him. DONE! He loves to go for walks every day, he LOVES the dog park, loves children, adults and other dogs he meets on our adventures and he “smiles” all the time! We have already taken him to a “dog friendly” restaurant and he will sit outside with us and completely behave himself. He’s Sable and White and has white legs, a sable tail that has a white tip that looks like he diped it in paint!! Everyone stops to tell us how darn cute he is. And he IS ADORABLE!!!!
My Husband is a musician who has allergies and very sensitive to them. He has never had a problem with Muddy. Your mileage may vary but this is the first breed of dog that we could have because of Hubby’s allergy problem. We couldn’t have been luckier to have found this breed -breeder for that matter. My life has been changed for the best because of this beautiful creature. If you are thinking of getting a happy, smart, gentle dog- you won’t go wrong with the Aussiedoodle! And NO-Nancy and Steve didn’t put me up to this!!! I just wanted to share my joy. Also-quick note-be careful not to get one with Terrier in the gene mix. They tend to be a bit more aggressive. Best wishes to you all.
